【摘要】:1.1ThispartofISO5659specifiesamethodofmeasuringsmokeproductionfromtheexposedsurfaceofspecimensofessentiallyflatmaterials,compositesorassembliesnotexceeding25mminthicknesswhenplacedinahorizontalorientationandsubjectedtospecifiedlevelsofthermalirradianceinaclosedcabinetwithorwithouttheapplicationofapilotflame.Thismethodoftestisapplicabletoallplasticsandmayalsobeusedfortheevaluationofothermaterials(e.g.rubbers,textile-coverings,paintedsurfaces,woodandothermaterials).1.2Itisintendedthatthevaluesofopticaldensitydeterminedbythistestbetakenasspecifictothespecimenorassemblymaterialintheformandthicknesstested,andarenottobeconsideredinherent,fundamental,properties.1.3Thetestisintendedprimarilyforuseinresearchanddevelopmentandinfiresafetyengineeringofbuildings,trains,ships,etc.,andnotasabasisforratingsforbuildingcodesorotherpurposes.Nobasisisprovidedforpredictingthedensityofsmokethatmaybegeneratedbythematerialsuponexposuretoheatandflameunderother(actual)exposureconditions,norisanycorrelationestablishedwithmeasurementsderivedfromothertestmethods.Thistestprocedureexcludestheeffectofirritantsontheeye.NOTEThistestprocedureaddressesthelossofvisibilityduetosmokedensity,whichgenerallyisnotrelatedtoirritancypotency,asexplainedinPart1ofthisInternationalStandard.1.4Itisemphasizedthatsmokeproductionfromamaterialvariesaccordingtotheirradianceleveltowhichthespecimenisexposed.Inmakinguseoftheresultsofthismethod,itshouldbeborneinmindthattheresultsarebasedonexposuretothespecificirradiancelevelsof25kW/mand50kW/m.
